Choosing this real estate agent was based on a historical collaboration and lower commission compared to a direct competitor. Unfortunately, my choice turned out to be a mistake, rather than a success. Simple agreements were not met, such as promises about when feedback would be given regarding certain matters. I had to constantly follow up with this real estate office. It also became clear that there was little knowledge of how certain things work on Funda, like automatic notifications (for an Open House) directed at the target group who marked the property as a favorite. Our home attracted surprisingly little interest in the first few weeks. We would have expected proactive behavior and suggestions from a real estate agent, but everything remained reactive throughout the entire process. Once we decided to end our collaboration, I had an evaluation meeting and shared my feedback. All feedback was embraced and confirmed, with a comment that there happened to be a new vacancy posted because it had become too busy. As far as one extra FTE would make a difference for me, it was already too late. Since then, I have seen the property listings via this real estate agent only increase, leading me to conclude a 'mass equals cash strategy'. A good service provider should also be able to recognize and accept limits, which sometimes includes saying no. Given that an average house sells itself quickly, there is hardly any need to look around and it's quite easy money. As soon as a sale doesn't go so smoothly by itself, you're left at the mercy of fate. After this negative experience with a real estate office, I decided to hire an internet real estate agent purely for Funda listings, facilitating viewings myself. Within three weeks, there were multiple viewings and a successful sale as a result. I advise future home sellers to also consider such an option (internet real estate agent). It saves a lot of commission and in my case, all viewers even stated that the experience was much more positive compared to viewings through professional real estate agents.
