Migiel was an amazing adviser throughout our house search. I am convinced that we wouldn't have been successful at buying a house in the crazy Amsterdam market without him. His company provided us with a regular email with all the houses that fit our criteria. They would arrange viewings, and Migiel would join us personally on each one. With his years of experience, he was able to pick up on issues that we may have missed - like the stability of floors, or the amount of repair work that would be needed in a house to get it up to standard (and how much that would cost). He gave us detailed insight on how much we would need to put up in order to make a realistic bid, and took care of the entire bidding process. Though it might seem like a significant expense to tack on to an already pricey endeavor, I genuinely believe it is essential to success in the current market. Another great thing about Migiel and his company is that their fee is a percentage of the asking price of the house - meaning, it doesn't increase if you end up having to bid higher (as is commonly the case). This is great, because you can be assured that Migiel does not have an incentive to get you to bid higher - if he recommends it, it's because that is what is needed to realistically get the house.
