Mathieu Paul had I instructed to prepare a valuation report for my home. He forgot to take photos of the attic and asked me if I could do that. Since I had to pay €800.00 for this report, I felt a discount was justified. He could give a discount of €20.00. For that amount, I thought it would be better if he came himself to take the photos, which he did after initially threatening to return the assignment. This seemed to me not an option because VOF Huurlingsedam was the client and not myself. When he came by to make these two photos, he still wanted to know why I couldn't do this myself, that he always likes to be in good contact with people and tries not to complicate matters with the valuation. Now? It was an unpleasant experience for me.

"Beste Tom, Het spijt me dat je de gang van zaken als vervelend hebt ervaren. Ik heb eerlijk gezegd getwijfeld of ik wel moest reageren en of dit wel het medium daarvoor is. Niet om mijn gelijk te halen, want het gaat niet om het gelijk maar om elkaars interpretatie, maar juist uit respect. Want stilzwijgen zou ook iets kunnen uitstralen wat ik niet zou willen: alsof het me niet interesseert wat je er van denkt. Integendeel, daarom wil ik toch graag even mijn toelichting geven. Je hebt mij gekozen uit een lijstje van taxateurs, zoals voorgeschreven uit de regels bij dit soort taxaties. De erfverpachter/ontwikkelaar is de opdrachtgever van de taxatie. Ik begrijp dat € 800 veel geld is. Tegelijk wil ik graag toelichten, zoals je weet, dat jij daarvan de helft betaald en de erfverpachter/ontwikkelaar de andere helft. Ook dit is zo geregeld in de voorschriften. Toen ik ontdekte dat er een foto van de zolder ontbrak, iets dat heel af en toe voorkomt en doorgaans wordt opgelost door de eigenaar of bewoner die me dat fotootje dan even appt, heb ik contact met je gezocht en gevraagd of jij even twee fotootjes van de zolder wilde maken. Je was het daar niet mee eens, het was mijn werk, en op zich heb je daar ook gelijk in. Je vroeg of er dan een korting in zat. Ik was verbaasd omdat ik dit niet eerder zo ervaren had en heb €20 korting voorgesteld. Dat bleek niet naar wens, waarop jij hebt aangegeven dat ik dan maar zelf langs moest komen voor de foto van de zolder. Dat heb ik de volgende dag ook gedaan. De toon van ons contact op dat moment, wat door mij niet als prettig werd ervaren en me verraste maakte dat ik heb geopperd de opdracht eventueel terug te geven. Niet uit weerstand, en niet als drukmiddel maar omdat ik oprecht geloof in prettige samenwerking zonder gedoe en met vertrouwen in elkaar. Tijdens mijn bezoek voor de vergeten foto heb ik geprobeerd om een en ander naar elkaar uit te spreken, te begrijpen wat voor jou en voor mij het gevoel was, om de lucht te klaren. Schijnbaar is dat toch niet gelukt. Wat ik toen ook heb benoemd is dat ik graag op een prettige manier met mensen omga en dat ik mijn taxatie juist schappelijk uitvoer. Daarmee bedoel ik dus om zo tot een eerlijke taxatie te komen zonder te overdrijven. Dat geldt voor elke opdracht en daar sta ik ook in deze situatie volledig achter. Ik vind het oprecht jammer dat je dit anders hebt ervaren, en ik hoop dat ik met deze toelichting van mijn kant toch de lucht kan klaren. Met vriendelijke groet, Mathieu Paul"

It was my first experience with this real estate agent, and from start to finish it was a very pleasant collaboration. During the introductory meeting, expectations and working methods were discussed, and these have all been carried out as agreed. It is an agent who takes away your worries, and keeps you regularly informed via the app or by phone about viewings but also when, for example, a form has been sent for signature. This keeps things moving! Overall, a very pleasant experience with a beautiful result for my home.
