We are very satisfied with Empé Makelaars. The communication was always quick and clear. Had questions? We could always turn to them. During the viewings, Mathieu took the time to walk through the house himself. Afterwards, all findings were shown to us. For an offer, Mathieu provided clear and well-substantiated advice. We are very pleased with this process. Thank you Mathieu!

I already knew Mathieu Paul van Empé Real Estate from an earlier valuation of my house. Then we had a pleasant contact. So I was happy that he also wanted to take over the sale of my home. Mathieu is very accessible, easy to reach and kept me informed about the entire process. He gave me the feeling of knowing what he was doing, but acted in consultation. Mathieu outlined a clear timeline and stuck to agreements. Therefore, he completely took away my worries about the sale. And – not unimportantly – the house was sold for a nice price!

Mathieu Paul had I instructed to prepare a valuation report for my home. He forgot to take photos of the attic and asked me if I could do that. Since I had to pay €800.00 for this report, I felt a discount was justified. He could give a discount of €20.00. For that amount, I thought it would be better if he came himself to take the photos, which he did after initially threatening to return the assignment. This seemed to me not an option because VOF Huurlingsedam was the client and not myself. When he came by to make these two photos, he still wanted to know why I couldn't do this myself, that he always likes to be in good contact with people and tries not to complicate matters with the valuation. Now? It was an unpleasant experience for me.
Response
"Dear Tom, I am sorry that you have experienced the process as unpleasant. I actually doubted whether I should respond and if this is the right medium for it. Not to prove my point, because it's not about being right but about each other's interpretation, but rather out of respect. Because silence could also convey something I don't want: as if I don't care what you think. On the contrary, that's why I would like to give some explanation. You were chosen from a list of tax assessors, as prescribed by the rules for such appraisals. The heir tenant/developer is the client for this appraisal. I understand that €800 is a lot of money. At the same time, I want to explain, as you know, that you pay half and the heir tenant/developer pays the other half. This is also regulated in the rules. When I discovered that there was no photo of the attic, something that happens very rarely and is usually resolved by the owner or occupant sending me a quick picture via app, I contacted you to ask if you could take two photos of the attic. You disagreed because it was my job, which you were right about. You asked if there would be a discount for this. I was surprised as I hadn't experienced that before and offered €20 off. That didn't seem satisfactory to you, so you said I should come myself for the photo of the attic. Which I did the next day. The tone of our communication at that moment, which I didn't find pleasant and which surprised me, made me suggest returning the assignment. Not out of resistance or as a pressure tactic but because I sincerely believe in working together pleasantly without hassle and with trust in each other. During my visit for the missing photo, I tried to talk things through, understand how it felt for you and for me, clear the air. Apparently, that didn't work. What I also mentioned then is that I like to interact nicely with people and that I conduct my appraisals fairly. By this, I mean coming to a fair appraisal without exaggeration. This applies to every assignment and I fully stand by it in this situation as well. I sincerely regret that you experienced it differently and hope that this explanation from my side can clear the air nonetheless. With kind regards, Mathieu Paul"
